"The ultimate criteria of judging the success or failure of a particular project, above function, adherence to budget, or respect to schedule, although all priorities, is the consistent and meaningful creation of space that is experientially satisfying and the production of forms that generate a sense of appropriateness and environmental fit... this logic and attitude are communicated equally in both the manipulation of forms and volumes, as well as in the execution of the details..."

"Genuine Architecture trascends function, it embodies ideals and communicates the aspirations of the client for whom it is built..."
- Alexander J. Belavitz, R.A., NCARB

Successful architectural design is not, nor has ever been arbitrary. You either know what you are doing, or the result is evident "guesswork" that people will be forced to live with for the life of the building.
Our work is generated on the premise that reverence for the site and context, empathy with the aspirations of the client, and an acute awareness of the factors that drive the evolving tastes of the social and political climate in which a particular project is located, each contribute to a more critical understanding of that project, and what the pursuant design solution needs to be. It is the accuracy of the architect's understanding of these issues that enables an appropriate interpretation, and informs the envisioning process when designing.
